Mission of the Ism & Heit Foundation:
Practice of the performing arts. The Ism & Heit Foundation is the legal organisation behind Studio Julian Hetzel. The foundation initiates, develops, realises and presents cultural projects of multidisciplinary artist Julian Hetzel.
DIRECTORS & BOARD
The Ism & Heit Foundation is managed by a management consisting of two directors (artistic and business) and a board consisting of at least 3 board members, which meet four times a year. The board approves the policy plans, annual reports and annual accounts, while also acting as a sounding board for the management. Board members are appointed for a period of four years, with a possible one-off reappointment for a second period of four years.
The management consists of Julian Hetzel (artistic director) and Saskia Reynolds (business manager). The board consists of:
- Chair: Maaike Bleeker (Professor of theater studies at Utrecht University)
- Treasurer: René Vlemmix (Business manager National Ballet Academy Amsterdam)
- Secretary: Ian Yang (Advisor Japan, China, Korea at Dutch Culture)
- Board member: Kitty Leering (DutchBlend, de Waag, Marketing and Communication specialist)
- Board member: Urias Boerleider(Consultant Dutch Film Fund and theatre maker)
The board performs its duties unpaid. The remuneration policy for staff and management at Ism & Heit Foundation follows the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Theater and Dance (CAO Toneel & Dans). The salary and employment conditions of the directors are determined by the board, taking into account the legislation and regulations surrounding the Dutch Standards for Top Incomes Act for the public and semi-public sector.

The company follows the Collective Labor Agreement for Theater and Dance (CAO Toneel & Dans) and works according to the Culture Governance Code. We endorse the Fair Practice Code and the Diversity & Inclusion Code.

SAFE & INCLUSIVE
We strive for a safe and inclusive working environment in which everyone feels valued and respected. We make no difference between freelancers or salaried employees: both are part of the team of Studio Julian Hetzel. All employees receive our ‘code of conduct’ at the start of their employment contract. In this document we describe how we want to interact with each other within the studio. This also contains the contact details of our external confidential counselor.
External confidential counselor:
The Foundation works with an external confidential counselor. If members of the team (self-employed or employed) would like to contact our external confidential counselor, they can contact them. Furthermore, the confidential counselor is invited in person during the kickoff of a new project to meet the team.
SOURCES OF INCOME
In addition to the income from ticket sales, co-productions and foreign tours, we organize activities such as workshops, lectures and think-tanks. We work together with both public and private parties, such as educational institutions, universities, academies, theaters, production houses, art and theater festivals. Furthermore, project-specific funding applications are made to private funds.
The Ism & Heit Foundation has ANBI status (Dutch, or “Public Benefit Organisation”), which means that donating to the company has tax benefits. Ism & Heit Foundation is registered under the legal identification number (RSIN): 855991185.
