Game Over: Open call for performers
Studio Julian Hetzel & Staatstheater Kassel are looking for performers for a new production.
Studio Julian Hetzel creates undisciplinary art projects that combine contemporary theatre, performance and visual arts. For the new creation Game Over to take place at Staatstheater Kassel / TiF – Theater im Fridericianum, between 8 – 16 May 2024, we are looking for several performers (m/f/d).
WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Physical performers who can playfully improvise and rearrange objects in the space to create temporary sculptures
- People with a thick skin; rugged and ready to handle pressure on stage
- Performers who are willing to expose themselves to paintball shots (protective gear and clothing is provided)
- Performers who can maintain a strong stage presence also without spoken text
The working language during rehearsals is German and English.
On stage / during the performance there is no text.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
A performative installation about empathy and the gamification of violence which is presented in Germany for the first time. Game Over is an adaptation of the award winning performance The Automated Sniper by Studio Julian Hetzel.
Game Over brings a complex and highly topical theme as an artistic-social experiment to the stage in artistic form, enabling awareness and creating a space for dialogue and reflection on the big questions of war and peace.
AUDITION:
A one-day audition workshop will be held in Kassel on Sunday 14 April 2024 (details will follow upon invitation).
IMPORTANT DATES:
- Wednesday 10 April 2024: Deadline open call
- Thursday 11 April 2024: Invitation selected candidates
- Sunday 14 April 2024, from 11:00 – 14:00: Audition / workshop in Kassel
- 2 – 7 May 2024: Rehearsals in Kassel
- 8 – 16 May 2024: Game Over im TiF – Theater im Fridericianum, Staatstheater Kassel
Game Over is open daily from 8 – 16 May from 17:00 – 21:00 Uhr, closed on Sunday 12 May.
During the installation’s opening hours, the performers work shifts of two hours.
