Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color nominated for the VSCD Mime/Performance Prize!
After the selection for the Belgian Theater Festival earlier this week, we have more exciting news! Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color is nominated by the Dutch Theater Jury for the VSCD Mime/Performance Prize. This is the prize for the most important and impressive contribution to mime/performance in the 2023/2024 season!

Haven’t seen the show yet? Save the date: Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color will be part of the Dutch Theater Festival on 7 September in the Rabobzaal of the Stadschouwburg Amsterdam. The Theater Festival takes place from 5 – 15 September 2024.
The winners of the VSCD Mime/Performance Prize will be announced on September 15 during the Gala of the Dutch Theater, the conclusion of the Dutch Theater Festival in the International Theater Amsterdam.

Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color
Theater Artemis & Studio Julian Hetzel
The collaboration between multi-talented Julian Hetzel and youth theater company Theater Artemis hits the mark. Rarely has a performance been more disruptive and in such a wonderful way. In this absurdist talent show, the role of the audience is crucial. The disarming performative and physical qualities of Willemijn Zevenhuizen, Louis van der Waal and Tim van Dongen are of such a high level that you completely surrender to the roller coaster on which they take us. In line with his previous oeuvre, Julian Hetzel makes young and adult audiences think about what is beautiful and ugly. A disruptive experience that exposes the ‘performance society’ that young children already have to deal with at an early age. Eva Koopmans’ cleverly constructed set design makes it a visual and colorful party and plays an important role in the climax, after which the audience – from young to old – is left exhilarated. Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color’ shows the pleasure of taking matters into your own hands and provides a wonderful example of the social importance of art.
