Open call: We are looking for a Production Manager (16-24 h/week)

Open call: We are looking for a Production Manager (16-24 h/week)

Studio Julian Hetzel creates undisciplinary art projects that combine contemporary theatre, performance and visual arts. To make the next step in the growth of Studio Julian Hetzel, we are looking for a production manager (16-24 h/week) who enjoys making out-of-the-box projects happen.

Studio Julian Hetzel’s core team currently consists of six creative professionals. The studio functions as a collective, a workshop, and a laboratory. Research and experimentation are the driving forces behind the studio’s artistic practice. This means that no creative process and timeline will be similar to another. We realise one big production per year. In addition, we organise smaller (performative) events, workshops, symposia and other public activities to share what we do and to feed our research.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The production manager is a central figure next to the artistic director and the managing director. You step into the creative process while monitoring different timelines, planning and budget. Each project has its own specific conditions. As a production manager you love to investigate, research and get stuff done. Sometimes there is a lot of time for this, sometimes a little less. Your focus is on the realisation of new projects (until the premiere), preparation of the tour and overall support of the core team in Amsterdam.

Your tasks and responsibilities are, a.o.:

  • Preparing production call-sheets and schedules;
  • Monitoring progress and identifying potential bottlenecks;
  • Direct communication with the artistic director and the entire team;
  • Preparing and overseeing the production budget;
  • Help thinking about rehearsal spaces, decor and logistics of the tour;
  • Arranging the necessary production resources and materials;
  • Communicating with performers and the team regarding the production schedule and practical arrangements.
  • Communication with the (international) theatres and partners to prepare the tour (including: transport, call sheets, booking travel and accommodation);
  • Ensuring a good handover to the tour managers;
  • Attend weekly team and production meetings.

YOU ARE:

  • A master-planner;
  • Highly communicative and easily reach out to colleagues and create synergy;
  • A proactive planner who can maintain the overview — even when multiple projects run simultaneously;
  • Interested in the Studio Julian Hetzel’s work and work method and are eager to engage in (political) debates;
  • Experience as a production manager and in the field of international theatre is a plus, but not necessary. Above all, we value passion, enthusiasm and eagerness to learn;
  • Preferably living in the region of Amsterdam;
  • Drivers licence is a plus;
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • An inspiring workplace in a small and dedicated team;
  • You are directly involved in the making process of internationally touring theatre projects;
  • Space to bring in your own ideas;
  • Salary between € 3.055 – 4.994, gross, based on full-time employment, to be discussed depending on experience (scale VII – VIII, according to the Dutch ‘CAO Toneel & Dans’ (Collective Labour Agreement for Drama and Dance).
