Willemijn Zevenhuijzen wins Silver Cricket

Willemijn Zevenhuijzen wins Silver Cricket

Willemijn Zevenhuijzen wins a Silver Cricket in the category ‘most impressive performance in a youth theater production’ for her role in Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color (8+) by Studio Julian Hetzel and Theater Artemis.

From the jury report:

“Willemijn Zevenhuijzen’s role in Diarrhea Is My Favorite Color is the crown on the work of one of the country’s best physical actors, who continuously succeeds in moving and surprising in youth theater. Zevenhuijzen masterfully peels away the different layers of her character, from a thick shield of cynicism, to a newly blossoming hope, to the liberation she feels when she no longer tries to join the rat race of the art industry. Zevenhuijzen captures the moving development she experiences through a combination of text and fantastically detailed physical play, which perfectly illustrates the journey from inhibition to unleashing.”

Today the Youth Theater jury of VSCD (Association of Theater and Concert Hall Directors) announced the winners of the Silver Crickets for the 2023-2024 theater season. The winners are also the nominees for the Golden Crickets, which will be presented during the Gala of Dutch Theatre, the festive closing of the Dutch Theater Festival in International Theater Amsterdam. The presentation of the Silver Crickets will take place during the youth theater afternoon in Theater De Krakeling on Sunday 15 September 2024.
